"Die Braut" is a German film starring Kelly Trump. For me, Kelly Trump’s movies are synonymous with a "lighthearted tone," and they’re often the kind of films I enjoy watching to unwind and have a laugh. (Plus, these movies often come with Dru Berrymore, Denise LaBouche or Mandy Mystery as her co-stars)
"Die Braut" fits this vibe, though it might be a bit too light at times. Some scenes lack context, and I even wondered if parts of the script were cut during editing.
The story follows Eva (Kelly Trump), who is set to marry Raul (Zenza Raggi), the son of a wealthy family. Eva shows her future in-laws her wedding dress, but they strongly disapprove of its red color. Upset and in tears, Eve flees the house, leaving her sister, Mandy Mystery, behind.
A quick aside: I’m a big fan of Mandy Mystery. She’s stunning, full of energy, and appears in lots of films. I don't know why she isn’t more well-known.
Anyway, Mandy is alone in the living room when Raul finds her. Surprise: We learn that Raul is Mandy’s ex-boyfriend. Raul seems eager to prove he can still charm her.
Melissa (Laura Angel) witnesses this scene from outside and calls Paul, saying she wants to meet him.
Meanwhile, Eva seeks comfort from her ex-boyfriend. He gives her money to buy a white wedding dress and suggests they stop seeing each other... but not before they hook up one last time!
So, the day before the wedding, the bride sleeps with her ex, while the groom hooks up with the bride’s sister... what a family! And the drama doesn’t stop there.
We then catch up with Melissa, and we find out who Paul is: Raul’s father. Paul and Melissa are lovers, but Melissa is tired of waiting for Paul to divorce his wife, especially since he hasn’t bought her the car she wants. Caught off guard, Paul gifts Melissa a Porsche, and, reassured, she shows her gratitude.
Back at the house, Raul’s mother receives a delivery. She’s quite flirtatious and asks the delivery guy to satisfy her. Later, she even invites his colleague to join them. It’s an intense scene, including a moment of "fist-fucking" (which, personally, I’m not a fan of).
The next day is the wedding. The reception includes only the characters we’ve already met, plus Raul’s brother. He hits it off with Eva’s sister, Mandy, and they slip away together. It’s a great scene, with the beautiful and captivating Mandy Mystery shining.
Overall, Kelly Trump’s scene and the two scenes with Mandy Mystery are really well done. However, the film could have used a stronger storyline. I found it hard to keep track of who was who at the start, and without understanding the plot, it’s tricky to grasp the relationships between the characters.
