Not sure, but I believe turboscribe utilizes whisper. It's about as good as any AI translators where I've seen the results. You'll still need to do a line by line for sync and pronouns (Japanese at least. Haven't used it in other languages) about 90% of the puntuation and capitalization is done properly.

Of course, I'm still using the free version with all of its limitations for size and length.

I tried Turboscribe with Czech. Total failure as it missed a good five to ten minutes of conversation in a 30 minute file. Not sure how accurate it was with what it did translate.

I'll try again with a small clip I have which already has subtitles, and compare.

It is about 90% accurate for English. I think the quality of the sound it gets has a lot to do with it.

For my next project, I'll try the best bitrate I can get for the sound file then see how Turboscribe works.

I use mp3 files, not video clips, and I also boost the volume, but as I said, I've only used it for Japanese to English, and the sub's still need corrections in sync, duration, and pronouns. Haven't had any missed dialogue though.

I took convert to MP3, but only for files bigger than 39 minutes. I did one mp4 direct as it was 28 minutes, and that worked just the same.

I think sound quality has a lot to do with what AI "hears".
